Kay A. Ewers

Kay A. Ewers, age 62, passed away September 20, 2008 in Madison.   Kay was born May 19, 1946 the daughter of Delbert and Dorothy (Wanless) Ewers, in Richland Center.   She graduated from River Valley High School and attended UW-Madison.   Kay was united in marriage to Neal Deunk on July 11, 1971.   She was employed by UW-Madison for 38 years, most recently the last 17 years in the Division of Information Technology (DoIT).   Kay's primary interests included social justice and environmental issues, and she was taking courses at UW-Madison in these areas.   Kay was a member of Luther Memorial Church.   She is survived by her husband Neal Deunk and a brother Bob (Lola) Ewers of Spring Green.     Kay was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Rudy (Doris) Ewers, Poynette, and Bruce (Eldonna) Ewers, Rockford, IL. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at LUTHER MEMORIAL CHURCH, 1021 University Avenue, Madison, with visitation from 12:00 noon until time of service.  A special thanks to her doctors and to the many other skillful and devoted staff who cared for her over the past nineteen months at Meriter Hospital, The UW Comprehensive Cancer Center, UW Hospital, and Capital Lakes Health Center.   In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to The Nature Conservancy, 4245 North Fairfax Drive, Arlington, VA 22203, or Luther Memorial Church, 1021 University Avenue, Madison, WI   53715.
