Kay "Cookie" Wipperfurth

August 22, 1945 — March 31, 2025

Waunakee

Waunakee – Kay Ann “Cookie” (Bram) Wipperfurth, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 31, 2025, after battling MS for many years. She was born on August 22, 1945, in Martinsville, the daughter of Nick and Helen (Frederick) Bram. She graduated from Middleton High School in 1963 and began working at the Bank of Middleton.

On April 29, 1967, Kay married the love of her life, Kenneth Wipperfurth, at St. Martin’s Church in Martinsville. Ken and Kay were one month from celebrating 58 years of marriage. They chose Waunakee as their life-long home where they raised three children. After starting their family, Kay decided to stay home with her children and even offered in-home daycare, which she loved very much. After her children were in school, she returned to the workforce before retiring in 2008.

Kay was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed teaching religion classes and helping with Sunday skating at St. John’s school for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Kay was guided by her faith and love for family, always willing to do whatever she could to support and care for us.

She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, vacationing with family and friends, and her time volunteering with Waunakee EMS for nearly a decade. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball and bowling in a couple’s league with her husband, family, and friends. Kay and Ken cherished their lifelong friends they made with their Card and Dice groups as well.

Kay battled MS with incredible strength for years, but she never let it change her. She stayed the same loving, caring, kind, and strong person we knew and loved.

Kay is survived by her loving husband Kenneth; three children, Kris (Barry) Paar, Kim (Ryan) Stanek and Kevin (Elise) Wipperfurth. Seven grandchildren; Che lsea (Richie) Hamann, Samantha and Taylor Paar, Chase and Kylar Stanek, Jackson and Katelyn Wipperfurth. Two great-grandchildren; Karsyn and Lucie Hamann and one more on the way. Sisters-in-law; Karen Wipperfurth, Jeanne (Dick) Frosch, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in law & mother-in-law, Jerome and Lucille (Ziegler) Wipperfurth; sister, Nancy Laufenberg; and brothers-in-law, Kenny Laufenberg and James Wipperfurth.
