Keith Miller

Keith Miller, age 73, passed away suddenly on Tuesday March 12, 2024.

Keith was born in Sheboygan, WI on December 20, 1950 to Jack and Ruth Miller. He graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1969. While in high school, he participated in various sports and was also in a rock and roll band, where he played the drums. After high school he enlisted in the Navy and was deployed to Viet Nam and served on a supply ship. He was in the Navy for six years, 2 of them active and 4 in the reserves. He was honorably discharged in 1976. He married his wife, LuAnn on April 1, 1977, and they then moved to Madison, WI where he was an accountant for the State of Wisconsin. He received his bachelor’s in business administration from Lakeland College in 1982. In the following years, he held several other accounting jobs, and had 2 daughters. In 1983 he joined the Army Reserves as a full time Recruiter, eventually switching to Nurse Recruiting, at which he excelled. Highlights of his recruiting years were earning the Army Recruiting ring and the Glen E Morrell Recruiter of Excellence Award. After his retirement from the Army, he held several different jobs, working for TSA, and managing a Speedway Station before finding his perfect job, teaching driving. He began with 4 Lakes, and eventually became manager of the Triple AAA driving school. One of the things he was most proud of was helping to pass the Graduated Drivers Licensing Law in Wisconsin, in an attempt to prevent other families from losing their children to car accidents.

In his free time, he enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer. He also played softball with the City of Sun Prairie, as well as being an umpire, at one point he ran the Little League umpire program. As his girls became more involved with sports and school activities he enjoyed attending every program, meet, and game to cheer them on and support them. Many weekends he could be found volunteering as a swim meet official, walking the pool deck and supporting the team. However after his grandsons were born, it’s easy to say his favorite thing in the world was spending time with them and when they were little rocking them to sleep. He jokingly referred to himself as the baby whisperer, and definitely had a magic touch when it came to getting a fussy little boy to sleep.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, LuAnn, daughter Jessi (Ronald) Soholt, and three grandsons, Jensen, Dalen, and Sawyer all of Sun Prairie. His brothers Jack (Linda) Miller, Mark (Gigi) Miller of Sheboygan, and Brother-in-law Scott (Dayle Quigley) Arndt of St Paul. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Tobi, parents Jack and Ruth Miller, sister Vicki Hicks, and mother and father-in-law Carol and Rodger Arndt.

 A visitation will take place at Cress Funeral Home 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, on Friday March 22 from 10AM-12PM. Service will be held immediately following. Following the conclusion of the service friends and family are welcome to gather at Varsity Bar and Grill, 1205 W Main Street, Sun Prairie, to share memories and be together.

              Keith previously requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to his grandsons educational fund.
