Kendall E. Niebuhr, age 83, died Monday, October 27, 2008 in a local hospital.  He was born October 28, 1924, in Madison, the son of John and Alvina (Tieman) Niebuhr.  Prior to his retirement in 1980, Kendall had been employed as a  Madison firefighter for 33 yrs.  He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, a veteran of WW II having served in the US Navy and the US Armed Guard.  Kendall was a Past Governor of the Moose Lodge, a member of VFW Post 8483 and American Legion Post 501 On August 17, 1944, Kendall was united in marriage with Jacquelyn Fischer in New York City.   In addition to his wife Jacquelyn, survivors include 5 sons and daughters: Susan (Raymond) Lux of Sun Prairie, Alan (Beth) Niebuhr of Swansea, IL, Kerry (Nancy) Niebuhr of Brighton, MI, Kathy Olday of Janesville and Lori (Randy) Taylor of Sun Prairie; 11 grandchildren: Patti Weber, Tracy Buie, Scott Lux, Jonathan and Laura Niebuhr, Vanessa Smith, Melissa Niebuhr, Donovan Olday III, Niki Jones, Katie Gilkerson and Janelle Taylor; 13 great grandchildren: Holden, Ashley, Kaden, Alex, Jaxen, Austin, Benjamen, Billi Jo, Johnathan, Justin, Jakob, Donovan and Jacob.  He was preceded in death by 2 infant daughters: Kathleen and Carol, 1 grandson Jerrod Keith Olday, his parents and 8 brothers and sisters.   A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 30 at the OAKWOOD VILLAGE EAST CHAPEL 5565 Tancho Drive with Reverend Ken Smith officiating.  Friends may call from 4 -- 7 pm Wednesday at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME and again at the chapel one hour prior to service on Thursday.  The family wishes to thank the staff of Oakwood East Meadows for his care during the past year.  In addition, they would like to thank St. Mary's Cardiovascular Care Unit (5 East) for the tender loving care given during the last week of his life.  In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to American Parkinson Disease Association or the Oakwood Village Continuing Care Endowment Fund.
