Mazomanie - Kenneth D. Alt, age 64, beloved father, grandfather, brother and dear friend passed away on Dec. 14, 2009 at the V.A. Hospital after a brief illness. Ken was born in Richland Center on Dec. 6, 1945 to Joseph and Edith (Phetteplace) Alt. Ken grew up on a farm near Plain, graduated from River Valley High School where he was involved in musicals and plays. After serving in the Navy in Norfolk, Virginia, he returned to Plain where he built a beautiful and loving home with Pat and his family. As a hobby, they raised and showed Arabian horses. His mother Edith, along with his family, started The Plain Folks band and touched countless lives through their music and entertainment. He was employed by Oscar Mayer for over 20 years and recently retired from Attic Angels. Ken had an entrepreneurial spirit and was never afraid to take risks in business or in life. He is survived by his daughter Kimberly (Mark) Puccio of Fitchburg and son Shawn (Angela) Alt of Sun Prairie. He is also survived by grandchildren, Daniella and Jack Puccio, dear friend and mother of his children, Patricia Alt of Prairie du Sac, special friends Mikey Rosol of Mazomanie and Pauline Lins of Spring Green. Ken's siblings include, Merle (Dorothy) of Baraboo, Jim (Rita), Reg and Tom (Della) all of Spring Green, Cheryl of Middleton and many other relatives and friends. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, grand-parents and several aunts and uncles. Ken was remarkable in many ways. Gardening was his passion, but most importantly he loved to cultivate lasting, sincere friendships. Ken is remembered for his love of family, friends, traveling, laughing, cooking, dancing and being the life of every party. Wherever he went, friends and strangers alike were drawn in by his charisma. Remember Ken for his generosity, enduring spirit and love of life. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the VA staff for their care and compassion for Ken. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Fri. Dec. 18, 2009, at 1:00 p. m. at Cress Funeral Service, 6021 University Ave. with Reverend Gary Wankerl officiating. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 11:00 a. m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
