Kenneth R. Arneson (known as Mr. A), 91, of Madison/Sun Prairie passed away peacefully on February 3, 2021 at Hyland Crossing Memory Care in Sun Prairie.
He was born on October 28, 1929 to Harold and Minnie (Milbrant) Arneson, Milton.
He was united in marriage to Janette McCoy on June 9, 1956 at the Methodist Church in Evansville.
Ken served in the Korean War for three years as sergeant in the 623rd Field Artillery.
He graduated from UW-Madison with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Husbandry. He worked for Matthew’s Hatchery for many years before starting his own poultry business called Pullet Enterprises, Inc. in Mt. Horeb. The business raised thousands of chickens, which were then sold to farmers.
Ken also worked for Litho Productions and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue in Madison before retiring.
After retirement, he was a great gardener and always had a yard full of beautiful flowers.
Ken and Jan enjoyed traveling and being partners of a home on Green Lake called Cedarwood.
He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Madison and served the church in many ways. Ken was a member of American Legion Post 501 in Madison. One of Ken’s highlights in 2018 was being honored as a veteran and Hometown Hero at a Badger football game.
Ken is survived by his wife, Jan; his children, Kyle, Madison; Rev. Jenny, Sun Prairie; and Kurt (Mary) of Bealeton, VA; brother Phil (Doris); Rodney (Dorothy); Bob (Karen); Lee (Mary), all of Janesville; many nieces and nephews and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Phyllis.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie at 1:00 p.m., visitation will be held from Noon until time of service at the funeral home.
