Kenneth C. Brunner, age 90, of Middleton, WI passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, WI. He was born on September 27, 1933 in Madison, Wi. the son of Leopold and Hilda Brunner. He married Julie Anna (Kalscheur) Brunner on April 25, 1957

Ken was raised on a typical Cross Plains family farm where he worked hard, played baseball, went to church, and graduated from high school. He proudly served in the U.S. Army where he was injured in a heavy equipment incident, and then returned home to marry the love of his life (Julie). Together they raised 5 kids, living in Sun Prairie and then Madison. Ken worked a wide variety of jobs in his early years (he called it going to the school of hard knocks) but was smart and disciplined with higher goals in mind. He became a nationally known expert in the ‘waste to energy’ industry as a facility manager and later as a consultant. Ken and Julie enjoyed travelling as empty nesters; going to Europe and Hawaii, flying to the west coast to sightsee (and eventually driving back home due to 9/11 events), and spending time in Florida for part of the cold Wisconsin winters. Ken enjoyed many activities over the years. Camping with his family, fishing, golf, walking, riding his exercise bike, and golf (again). His favorite restaurant was any Culvers he happened to drive past – he loved his ice cream and passed that trait on to his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He kept busy in his later retirement years by volunteering at the VA, golfing (always!), socializing with relatives and neighbors, joining the Middleton Optimist Club and helping at their events, and meeting with a special group of friends who would gather for breakfast at a local restaurant every Wednesday. Ken was vibrant and active to the end

Ken was preceded in Death by: Baby Girl Brunner (daughter -1962), Leopold Brunner (father) – 1997), Hilda Brunner (mother – 2001), Keith Brunner (son - 2009), Julie Brunner (wife – 2017), Tamara Brunner (daughter – 2017), Charleen Zander (sister – 2020)

Friends may call at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home 5785 Hwy Q Waunakee on Saturday Aug. 3, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00. Burial will take place at St Mary of the Lake cemetery in Westport.
