Kenneth Deprey

MADISON—Kenneth “Ken” W. DePrey, age 88, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022.  He was born on June 12, 1933 in Madison to Norbert and Delia (Carriveau) DePrey.

Ken proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army and then went on to serve an additional eight years in the Army National Guard.

Ken was an honors graduate of the University of Wisconsin- Madison with an undergraduate major in Economics and a graduate major in Industrial Relations.

Throughout his career, Ken held many titles.  He began his state service with the Department of Administration as a local government consultant.  Ken also served as Chief of Personnel Services and Deputy Director of the State Bureau of Personnel; as a Division Administrator in the Department of Revenue; and as Human Resources Director for the Department of Health and Family Services until his retirement in 1999.   For several years following Ken’s retirement, he also did management consulting for the state and federal governments.

Ken was both a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Sun Prairie and also the Madison Elks Club.

Ken is survived by his wife Kendra (Langer) DePrey; children Michelle Honore’ (Bill Robbins), Dave DePrey (Tammy), and Sandy Coppernoll; grandchildren Dan Honore’, Joanna Honore’, and Austin Coppernoll; and one great-grandchild Quinn Frenz.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Don DePrey and Dick DePrey.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, and he will be brought to his final place of rest in a private service at Highland Memory Gardens in Cottage Grove.
