Kenneth Gilbertson Jr.

Madison – Kenneth Arland Joseph Gilbertson Jr., age 60, of Madison passed away on Monday July 4, 2022, at the VA Hospital in Madison.  He was born December 10, 1961, in Madison, the son of Kenneth Gilbertson Sr. and Bernadine (Tom) Stroede.

Ken graduated from Madison East High School and joined the United States Air Force after graduation.  He was a lifelong resident of the east side of Madison.  Ken enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, dancing, going to the casinos and playing lottery scratch tickets.  He was a painter, handyman, and loved animals.  A special thank you to the many doctors and nurses at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veteran’s Hospital for the care they have given Ken over the last 38 years, as well as Phyllis Schwann for her compassion and care.

Ken is survived by his daughter Sonja Gilbertson; grandchildren Shelby and Ryder Falkenstein; sisters Debra Brewster, Jodi (John) Gillingham, brother Paul Gilbertson; uncle James Stout, aunt Sara (Steve) Hicks; and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Thomas Stroede, grandparents Thomas (Bernadine) Stout.

A Celebration of Ken’s life will be held at a later date.

Only when you drink from the river of silence, shall you indeed sing.  And when you have the mountaintop, then shall you begin the climb.  And when the earth has claimed you limbs, then shall you truly dance.
