Madison - Kenneth William Kruse, age 90, passed away peacefully at HospiceCare on July 4, 2009.  Kenneth was born May 2, 1919 on a farm in Hillpoint, Wisconsin to William H. and Meta (Struck) Kruse.  He married Dorothy M. Evans of Dodgeville on September 3, 1941. Together they had 3 children and shared 67 years of marriage.  Kenneth worked at many jobs as a young man including, carpentry, butcher and bus driver. Kenneth devoted  31 years of service as a court officer and traffic sergeant for the Madison Police Department, retiring in 1976.  He came out of retirement and was deputized by the Dane County Sheriffs Department as a court bailiff, resuming retirement in 1978. He was able to spend more time enjoying family, fishing, hunting and gardening. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, William K. Kruse, Deforest; daughter, Kathleen D. Lauber (Tom) Johnson, Madison; sister, Caroline (Kruse) Dodson, Madison; six granddaughters and 12 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon G. Kruse; his parents; and sisters, Margaret and Betty. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 11:00 AM at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1021 Spaight Street, Madison, 53703.  Rev. Peter Brinkman will officiate. A visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM.  Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison.
