MADISON-Kevin E. "Cat" Elliott, 60, passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2018. He was born on Sept. 9, 1957, son of John (Jack) and Karen (Brandenstein) Elliott. Kevin was an avid hunter, skier and star athlete at Waunakee High school in football and track (1972 - 1976) where he was given his nickname, Cat, for his speed and athleticism. He loved competition and his teammates throughout his high school career, setting many school records. Running back, #28, would get the ball and do his thing into the end zone for another 6 points. He led his team in rushing and touchdowns in almost every game as no one could catch him in the open field. During his softball days he was the leadoff batter, getting on base early and setting up the team with an early lead. He could catch any ball in the outfield and he had a strong arm too. Sometimes the throw was a little "high and outside" to the intended target. And in basketball, he could steal the ball from any player, like his arm, the layup was usually an adventure! Kevin was a Packer and Badger fan.
Kevin was one of a kind. He loved his family and friends, especially his many cousins who made great memories together. Kevin served his country in the U. S. Marine Corp, San Diego, where he was given numerous awards in the short time he was there and before he was honorably discharged from a previous football injury. He loved the Corps and the hard work and camaraderie that it offered. An unfortunate car accident in 1985 interrupted his life. He was very fortunate to have many angels to take care of him including his parents, his sisters, Kris and Jackie, and love and support from favorite aunts and uncles who sent cards and prayers.
Kevin's siblings are so grateful for the supportive and loving caregivers and friends he met over his latest journey from Avenues to Communities (Veena), Goodwill Industries (Jim, Lauren, Teresa) and Integrity Residential Services (Nadia, Jackie, Stephanie, Jazmine and many others). These special friends were so devoted to his care! A special thank you to Anamarie and family for their love and care.
Kevin is survived by his brothers and sisters, Jay (Connie), Jacklyn (Dan) Kaltenberg, Kristin (Dan) Statz and Jon (Rachel) along with nieces and nephews, Don, Danielle, Jordan, Kelley, Bracey & Jon Jr. (Butchie), great-nieces Azalea and Mia and great-nephew, Lincoln. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Kelly.
Rest in Peace Kev, your pain and suffering have ended and you are free to run! We will cherish and remember you always and we were blessed to have you as our big brother. Enjoy mom's homemade cookies in Heaven. We find peace in knowing you are with Mom and Dad. We love you dearly, Kev. xoxoxo
