MADISON - Kevin Daniel Ernst left us unexpectedly and much too soon at the age of 31 on Monday, May 28th, 2018.
Kevin was born in Madison, WI, on December 23, 1986 to parents Susan and Daniel Ernst. He grew up on the southwest side, attending Falk Elementary, Toki Middle, and Memorial High School, graduating in 2005. While growing up he played the viola and loved football and soccer and was an easy-A student when he put his mind to it. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed.
After high school, Kevin decided the Army was the place he could best spread his wings, and in 2006 he went for basic training at Ft. Jackson in Columbia, SC. He was stationed at Ft. Riley in Kansas with the 1st Infantry Division and served one tour of duty in Iraq. He was later stationed at Ft. Belvoir, Fairfax County, VA, and at Schofield Barracks in Honolulu, HI, with the 25th Infantry Division. While serving in the Army, he attained the rank of Sergeant.
After the Army, Kevin settled in the Baltimore area, and on June 12, 2015, he married Tiffany Reeves who blessed Kevin with a beloved son on November 10, 2015. Mark Christian was the light of Kevin's life.
Kevin was employed as an instrument operator with Whitman Requardt and Associates for the past 3 years. He was also completing land surveying classes at Catonsville Community College, carrying a 4.0 GPA, with only one semester to go. His goal was to become a licensed Land Surveyor in the state of Maryland. Kevin was bright, focused, determined, and hardworking.
Kevin leaves behind his parents, Susan and Daniel Ernst of Madison, his sister, Angela Ernst of St. Paul Park, MN, wife Tiffany and son Mark Christian of Odenton, MD, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Geraldine and Gordon Moore and paternal grandparents, JoAn and Bill Ernst.
Kevin had a huge, beautiful smile, a contagious laugh, and an even bigger heart. He lived and loved intensely, with all his soul. Kevin put his family first and cared so genuinely about others, always making those he was around feel important. He was funny, engaging, and continuously driven to be the best version of himself, even in the face of adversity. Kevin's spirit lives on in the joy that his son brings to his family and those he comes in contact with, even as his friends and family miss his earthly presence until they meet again.
