Kevin Macken

Kevin Alan Macken passed away September 7, 2013, in Madison, Wisconsin. He was born in Sacramento, California, on December 4, 1959. Beloved son of Majel and Gerald Macken and brother of Marlys Macken, Steven Macken and James Macken, and loving father of Jamie and Aaron Macken, he will be missed greatly by his family and loved ones, especially by his nephew, Christopher Martin-Macken; his aunts, uncles and cousins in California, Wisconsin and Minnesota; and his many friends in California and Wisconsin, especially Gabriel Huichan, Brendan Krueger and former wife Dale Rands. Kevin will be especially remembered for his warmth, extraordinary kindness, wonderful laugh, wicked sense of humor and artistry with wood; his passion for the 49'ers, Sunday football, music and barbequing with his family; how he helped and took care of so many people in so many ways all his life; and his generosity, strength and wisdom. A carpenter and licensed contractor, Kevin loved the out doors--particularly fishing, swimming and kayaking on the American River, all his life, and after moving to Wisconsin in 1994, the lakes of Dane County. He was a gifted athlete, played many sports, and particularly enjoyed golf and shooting hoops with his family. He graduated from Bella Villa High School in Fair Oaks, California, where he played football and baseball. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents. Arrangements are being made for a memorial service. Inquiries may be directed to Cress Funeral Home.
