Kimberly Johnson Jensen, age 54, of Middleton passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 6. She was born in Ames, Iowa, on March 14, 1960, the daughter of the late Robert Johnson and Jane (McDonald) Johnson. The family moved to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 1970. Kim graduated from Liberty High School in 1978 and returned to Iowa for college. She graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in civil engineering in 1982.
Following graduation, Kim accepted a position with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation in Madison. She spent 10 enjoyable years with the DOT before opening her own civil engineering consulting firm in 1992. Also in 1992 Kim married the love of her life John Jensen.
Kim specialized in working on local road and bridge projects as a consultant to the DOT, which gave her the opportunity to form special relationships with local officials, consultants, and DOT staff.
Kim is survived by her loving husband, mother, and sister, Stacy Johnson. She is further survived by mother-in-law Jan Jensen, brother-in-law Mike Jensen, sister-in-law Jeanne Armstrong, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, special friend Beverly Pacala, and her beloved work family. Kim was predeceased by her father, mother-in-law Lois Jensen, and father-in-law Gordon Jensen.
Kim was an amazing wife, daughter, sister, mentor, and friend. She will be missed very much and remembered every day.
A memorial service to celebrate Kim's life will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 6:00p.m. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Memorials may be made in Kim's name to Porchlight of Madison or Project Home of Madison.
