Kristin A. Strandlie

Kristin Amy (Kampmeier) Strandlie (41) entered eternal peace on February 19, 2024 at UW Hospital, Madison, Wis. surrounded by family and friends.

She was born November 10, 1982 to Dennis and Ruth (Clark) Kampmeier in Madison, Wis. She was an avid livestock showman with feisty livestock. Exhibiting herefords, angus, crossbred steers and heifers and adding market sheep into the mix. Her friendships began to grow there and extend though her lifetime. She would kick the soccer ball around for a few years of her youth with her McFarland teams. Kristin attended McFarland School District and graduated in 2001. Kristin thrived with work in the field – working with her hands, creating and maintaining landscapes and working alongside family in aggregate production pits and as a lab technician. Working and creating friendships at her latest place of employment, R. G. Huston Co. Inc., Cottage Grove, Wis. And when working at local pubs, she controlled the bar with her sass, feisty attitude and strong relations.

Kristin married Jon C. Strandlie on December 15, 2007 in Edgerton, Wis. on what ended up being a very snowy day! Together they welcomed a son, Ross D., on June 30, 2014. Ross was the light and drive of her life. Together they enjoyed summers tractor pulling and Kristin playing Horseshoes on a local league. Arizona was always a destination on her list to visit friends as often as time allowed. The fall season brought deer hunting! An adventure that was always entertaining and stories to last many lifetimes. Shooting her first buck was the most exciting deer hunt ever – a 6-pointer and trudging through the marsh grass to find the hidden buck. Kristin was always the life of the party and did not mince words. She would tell you “stop talking like your lips don’t fit”.

Diagnosed in March 2015 with Colon Cancer. She tackled it head on with radiation and chemo treatments for the next nine years. She had multiple surgeries throughout this time with the continued loving support of family and friends. Her motto was Live, Laugh, Love – which she embraced every day. We would like to thank the staff at UW Hospital Carbone Cancer Center for the compassionate care of  Dr. Evie Carchman, Dr. Elizabeth Sullivan, Dr. Dan Mulkerin, Jen Schroeder, all of the palliative care team doctors, and nurses, nurses aides on floor B 6/6.

Kristin is survived by her husband, Jon, son, Ross, parents Dennis and Ruth Kampmeier, brother Willie (Laurie) Breuch, in-laws Lynda (Rich) Smithback, Diane (Jason) Kellnhofer, Michelle (Lazer) Nelson, Greg (Jayme) Strandlie and nieces and nephews: Megan and Zane Breuch, Hailee and Evey Kellnhofer, Gage, Gunder and Beckett Nelson and Dennis C. Strandlie. Preceding her in death are grandparents Bill & Babe Clark, Norbert & Maxine Kampmeier, Father in-law Dennis A. Strandlie and Mother in-law Carol Strandlie.
