Kurt Simatic

Kurt M. Simatic, age 43, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, April 16, 2021. He was born to Kenneth and Lydia Simatic on January 4, 1978. Kurt spent his childhood growing up in Mukwonago, where he loved playing baseball and running track. He graduated from Mukwonago High School, before completing his Bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Kurt had a sharp mind and wry sense of humor, which served him well with others, and throughout his professional career. He was a partner at Stafford Rosenbaum LLP in Madison. Kurt transitioned into the legal profession after serving eight years as a staff member in the Wisconsin Legislature. He received his law degree from Marquette University, and upon graduation was honored to have served as a clerk to Justice David Prosser on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Kurt and his wife, Stacey Schultz of Verona, were married in 2008, and were raising their two young boys, Michael and Ryan, in Waunakee. Kurt adored his sons, and enjoyed teaching them new obscure facts and attending their hockey games. He was active at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison, where he most recently volunteered his time as a member of their Human Resources Team. Kurt also gave of his time and expertise with a number of other local and national professional organizations.

Kurt is survived by his wife, Stacey; two children, Michael and Ryan; father, Kenneth (special friend Helen); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Allan and Wendy Schultz; brother–in-law and sister-in-law, Craig and Alexandra Schultz; nephew and niece, Walter and Samantha Schultz. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 25th from 1:30-3:30 at Bethel Lutheran Church, Madison, with funeral service to follow. The family wishes to thank the Waunakee police and paramedics for their effort to resuscitate Kurt. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison or Waunakee Wildcat Youth Hockey.
