Passed away following a gathering of family and friends on Sat. July 12, 2014after a yearlong courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 14, 1948 in Madison to Hubert and Arlene (Kurt) Ziegler.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather (PAPA). He was an avid golfer and lived for his Thursday night golf league. His story telling and movie antics will be missed, along with the humor that resonated.
Kurt completed technical training at the Kettle Moraine Institute with a certificate as a Journeyman Machinist in 1968. With a talent of being able to fix anything, he worked his entire career as a machinist retiring in 2008 from Capital Newspapers after 23 years.
Kurt leaves behind the love of his life for 44 years, Doris (Christie) Ziegler; his children Kristine (Danny) Branton of Poynette, Kevin Ziegler of Oregon, and Kari (Eric) Fisher of Waunakee; his beloved grandchildren Joshua, Jordan, and Elizabeth Branton, Kole Ziegler, and Kaden and Kaleb Fisher. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Keith (Cindy) Ziegler, Kathy (Steve) Saager, Kent Ziegler, and Kim (Gary) Meinholz; sister-in-law Lilian (Dalton) Menhall of California and his Mother-in-law Audrey Christie. He will missed by many adoring aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his Father-in-law Major Frank Christie USAF (ret)
Funeral services will be held on Friday July 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St John's Catholic Church, 209 South St Waunakee. Msgr. James Gunn will officiate. Friends may call on Thurs. July 17, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Hwy Q Waunakee, WI. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ticiana Leal and all the staff at UW Carbone Cancer Center, and Agrace HospiceCare for their support. The numerous thoughts, prayers, and meal support from our family and friends will forever be remembered. They would also like to thank Dr. Louis Sanner for his 35 years of care and friendship.
