Laudie F. Winters, age 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2011 in his home, following a long illness. He was born March 27, 1927 in Montfort, (Grant County) WI, the son of Frank and Anna (Kumzsk) Winters. Laudie was a heavy equipment operator most of his working life. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the US Army and a member of American Legion Post 501. He made many new friends over the years as he tended bar at numerous locations in Madison. Laudie was especially fond of "polka and country music" and enjoyed listening and going to concerts. Survivors include his loving wife Anna Mae (Warner) Winters; his 3 children: Vicky (Russ Maier) Winters, Rick (Leann) Winters and Nick (Angie) Winters; 3 grandchildren: Gary Winters, Mike and Amber-Gee Winters; a sister Rose (Kruel) Hooks and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, the mother of his children, an infant son Gary, 2 brothers: Charles and Frank and 2 sisters: Mary and Martha. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 21 at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME where friends may call from 1:00 pm until time of service. Chaplain Tim Jones will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors. The family thanks the entire staff at HospiceCare for giving such wonderful care to Laudie during his illness enabling him to remain at home for his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to a charity of your choice. Laudie will be missed by family and friends who were dear to him.
