Laurie Mullen

November 27, 1953 — February 23, 2012

Madison - Laurie Mullen, age 58, passed away at home surrounded by family and friends after a determined battle against cancer, on Thursday, February 23rd, 2012. She moved to Madison in 1984 and made this beautiful city her home for her remaining years. Although she left this world too soon, she led a full and meaningful life and will be missed by so many.

Her life was one of love and devotion to her family, friends, and to everyone she knew through work and volunteering. She birthed three compassionate children to whom she devoted many of her years raising. In 1991 she began working at Edgewood High School as a guidance counselor and spent the next 20 years touching the lives of many high school students and their parents. In 2005 she founded her dream: Turn Around Teen, a non-profit organization devoted to offering additional counseling and learning tools to young people and their families. She spent her limited free time volunteering at hospice, singing in the choir at church, leading youth workshops, and enjoying time with family and friends.

Her spirit lives on in her mother, Shirley Herman; her children, Kelly Mullen Desierto, Lindsey Stoller, and Brian Mullen; her two grandchildren; her four siblings and her numerous friends.

A funeral service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5701 Raymond Rd, Madison, on Saturday, March 3rd, at 1 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at the church, with luncheon being served at 12 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Laurie A Mullen Scholarship Fund and/or Turn Around Teen, a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization. Please send your contributions to Park Bank, P.O. Box 8969, Madison, WI 53708-8969.
