Laurie Schmitz-Cata

Espanola, New Mexico - Laurie Ann Schmitz-Cata, age 46, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. She was born on April 22, 1967 in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Ray and Jenny Schmitz.

Laurie was a graduate of Madison West High School and Metropolitan College in Denver, Colo. She resided in Denver and Espanola through the years, but always remained a Badger fan. She worked as a CPA for an Indian Pueblo in Espanola, New Mexico.

She is survived by her parents, Ray and Jenny Schmitz of Madison; sister, Pam (Bob) Patton of Birmingham, Al; brother, Jeff (Shannon) Schmitz of Austin, Texas; two nephews, Sean Kennedy and Eric Schmitz; niece, Ashley Kennedy and several aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Friends may gather for a luncheon following the funeral service at Babes, 5614 Schroeder Rd, Madison.
