In Loving Memory

Madison- LaVerne (Timme) Meyer, age 94, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. She was born December 3, 1920 in Endeavor, the daughter of William and Mary (Wilson) Timme. LaVerne married Clarence Meyer on June 12, 1948 in Portage. Together they raised two children. LaVerne graduated from Endeavor High School in 1939. After graduation she attended Groves- Barnhardt Secretarial School in Madison and then worked many years in the offices at Oscar Mayer. LaVerne took a break from working to raise her children Gary and Linda. Once she began working again, she worked for General Telephone, now Verizon, retiring in 1984. LaVerne then traveled the world with her husband Clarence; they traveled to Europe, Spain, Greece, Mexico, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, seven cruises and the "Holy Land" in Israel. Laverne and Clarence made very happy travelers but most important was the time they spent with their family, which was very precious to LaVerne. She was a member of the East Side Club and VFW Post #7591,where she and her husband enjoyed dancing to "Big Band" music, most recently she loved dancing to the band " Back Forty " at the VFW with her family and friends. She was also a faith member at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

LaVerne is survived by her children, Gary( Debbie) Meyer and Linda ( Buck) Hein; granddaughters, Natalie ( George) Kraus and Carisa ( Ryland) Coleman; grandsons, Casey Meyer and Tyson ( Liz) Steinke; and great grandchildren Gwendalyn and Everly Kraus and Vaughn Coleman; sister in laws Verna Meier and Florence Lang; and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence; sisters Erma Griffin, Dorothy Siewert, and Leda Timme; brothers Everet and his wife Marion Timme, William and his wife Ione Timme.

Funeral Services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2670 Milwaukee St., Madison, on Monday, March 23, 2015, with the Rev. Bernt Tweit presiding. Visitation will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 East Washington Ave, Madison on Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 3:00pm until 5:00pm and also at the church from 10:00am until the time of service on Monday.
