Lavon Zika

Sun Prairie - LaVon (Taubenheim) Zika, age 62, of Sun Prairie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, WI while surrounded by her family.

She was born in Amboy, IL on March 18, 1949, the daughter of Edward R. and Pearl (Pankhurst) Taubenheim. She married Gary R. Zika on September 29, 1984.

LaVon graduated from Franklin Center High School in Franklin Grove, IL. She worked in the Higher Education Department in student loans for the State of Wisconsin, for the Wisconsin Cheeseman, and later, at Kohl's Department Store before her retirement. She loved to shop for others, loved the holidays, and spending time with her family in WI, IL, and FL. She was a great cook and organizer and loved meeting with friends over coffee. She enjoyed the outdoors and fishing occasionally with her husband. She appreciated life and never took it for granted, as she almost lost her life in a car accident when she was 22. She considered each additional day from then on a gift.

LaVon was a fantastic person to be around. She was very loving, caring and kind to everyone she met. She was the best wife a man could ask for and was always thinking of others rather than herself. She would do anything to help anyone and always had a very positive attitude. She was a great wife, stepmother, grandmother, sister, and aunt to all her loving family.

LaVon is survived by her husband, Gary, of Sun Prairie; her stepchildren, Blake (Chrissie) Zika of Palmetto, FL and Jennifer (Steve) Martin of Stuart, FL; 4 grandchildren; her twin brother, Larry (Carolyn) Taubenheim of McFarland, WI; two sisters, Joyce Warrenfeltz of Franklin Grove, IL and Edna Frye of LaSalle, IL; and several nieces and nephews, all from IL.

Special gratitude from LaVon's family is extended to the Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, WI and their staff for the support, care, and respect that she received.

A Celebration of Life visitation will be held at the Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie WI on Monday, January 9, 2012 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM for family and friends.
