Lawrence Deutsch

Janesville- Lawrence Joseph Deutsch, age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at his home at Huntington Place.  He was born in Duluth, MN on August 6, 1936, the son of Lawrence and Katherine Deutsch.

Larry graduated from Seattle Preparatory School and attended University of MN- Duluth.  He worked as an ambulance driver where he met his first wife Myrna “Penny” Smith.  They were married September 19, 1959, and were together 24 years until her death in 1983.

Larry retired from National Car Rental as their Corporate Controller after 25 years of service.  He enjoyed spending time with the Modrick family on Upper Eau Claire Lake in Barnes, WI.

Later in life Larry married Rita Modrick.  Together they enjoyed wintering in Laughlin, Nevada for many years until her death in 2020.

Larry is survived by his son, Larry (Lori) Deutsch; daughter, Terri Stewart; seven grandchildren, Alexa and Jake Deutsch, Erica and Maren Gryttenholm, Connor (Shelby Isham), Katie and Joey Stewart; brother, Steve (Petra) Deutsch; sister, Debbie (Dave) Traband; and many relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Mike Deutsch.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect Street, Stoughton.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services.  Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following the service, in the First Lutheran Church fellowship hall.  Burial will take place in St. Margaret Cemetery in Minnetonka, MN on Saturday, August 27, 2022.
