Lawrence Sargent

Deerfield/Cottage Grove- Lawrence W. Sargent, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 5, 2013. He was born in Mayville on May 20, 1928, son of Wendell and Anna Sargent. Lawrence served his country during WWII in the Merchant Marines. On February 28, 1948 he married Marian Anderson. Lawrence was a charter member of the Deerfield Rod & Gun Club, member of Deerfield Fire Department and member of Deerfield American Legion Post 260. He was a long time member of Deerfield Lutheran Church. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marian; three children, Larry, Dan (Karen) and Nancy (Marv) Dorshorst; four grandchildren, Cole (Sherrie), Trent, Emily and Evan; many relatives; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Peter Thompson; sister, Theresa Hubbell; and brothers, Peter and William Thompson. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Deerfield Lutheran Church, 206 S. Main Street, Deerfield, with Rev. Larry Sexe officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following the services, in the church fellowship hall. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services Saturday at church.
