Leah Sweet

April 9, 1918 — December 22, 2008

Leah Sweet, born April 9, 1918 in Minneapolis, MN, oldest daughter of Sam and Ann Silverman, passed away Dec. 22, 2008 after a lengthy illness.   Leah married Harry Sweet of Madison on July 11, 1943.   They were married 61 years.   After marriage, they lived in San Antonio, TX before moving back to Madison.   Professionally Leah was employed   by the Federal Government at Brook General Hospital in San Antonio.   She raised two children, Susan and Michael.   When her children were in school full time, Leah returned  to work at Wisconsin General as a research assistant in Oncology.   She was employed approximately 22 years before retirement.   During retirement Harry and Leah enjoyed years of world travel together.   Another of Leah's favorite pastimes was mahjong.   Leah was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.   She is survived by her daughter Susan of Madison, her son Michael of Oregon, 2 granddaughters; Ginny (Tom) Hoven, of Oregon, and Amy (Troy) Enloe of Verona, 5 great grandchildren; Mason, Reese, and Morgan Hoven, and Breyden and Landen Enloe.    She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.   The family wishes to thank Dr. David Watts and the coutless cargivers at UW Hospitals, Alterra Wynwood, Middleton Village, and Jewish Social Services.   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Beth Israel Center, 1406 Mound St., Madison, WI.   A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 26, 2008 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison, WI.   Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
