SOLDIERS GROVE/SPRING GREEN/MADISON WI LENORA (LANGVE) SPANGLER, 85 years 11 months and 16 days, having prayed with her family by her side, entered the courts of her Almighty Father God, Sunday, March 04, 2012.
Nora was born March 17, 1926 in Ferryville, Crawford, Wisconsin to Elmer Johanas and Minnie (Tisthammer) Langve. In her early years, Nora's family farmed on beautiful Boma Ridge near Fairview, and she loved her childhood "up on the farm." From her home atop the ridge she saw down into the river valley and then across the greens up to the white steeple and stately Utica Lutheran Church. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian Faith at Utica Lutheran Church in Utica, Crawford, WI. She graduated from Gays Mills High School May 23, 1944.
Lenora married Roy Lewis Spangler, a Purple Heart WWII Veteran, on October 24, 1946 at the United Methodist Church on Wisconsin Avenue in Madison WI. Lenora was a wonderful cook as enjoyed by many Madisonians at Micky's Dairy Bar and Tony Franks for over 35 years. She became the right arm of her daughter-in-law as a Child Care Assistant for 22 years sharing her wisdom, experiences and expertise in caring for over 75 children during that time. She loved her precious moments with the children and they loved their "No -ah." She will be missed by her little pals. She continued her education in the Child Care Profession attending professional courses and conferences. Lenora so enjoyed a good laugh, her crossword puzzles, ice cream, and scrapbooking. Next to her son, her greatest joy was her boundless and celebrated love of her Heavenly Father God. She was a student of The Word of God and prayed daily for her family, friends and the world.
Lenora is survived by her son, Kenneth J. Spangler (Paula Jeanne Kunz) Spring Green, WI; her nieces, Linda Aileen Langve, Madison, WI; Lorie Lee Langve, Lake in the Hills, IL; brother-in-law Verle Smith, Reedsburg, WI; and everlasting friends, Dennis and Tanya Cook, Madison, WI; dear friends, Caryl Getchell, Fitchburg, WI; Ed Kunz, Madison; David Kunz, Charlotte, NC; enduring friend Patrick Fahey, Madison, WI and her hairdresser Elizabeth Charleton, Madison, WI.
Lenora is predeceased by her parents; husband; infant at birth; her brothers Gerald Langve, 1973; Mervin Langve, 2011; her only sister Arlene May (Langve) Smith, 2005; nephew Ronald Allen Eggie, 1988; brother-in-law Raymond L. Eggie, 2004; sister-in-laws Myrtle Leone (Jackson) Langve, 1985; Aileen Shirley (Offerdahl) Langve Richardson, 2008; granddaughter Nancy Jean Spangler, 2011; and her very lovingly dear friend, Wendell Meyer, 2007.
Sincerest and grateful thanks are extended from the Spangler Family to Dr. Jeffrey Collins MD, Plain, WI and Dr. Brian Woody MD, Viroqua, WI along with everyone at the very special Sannes Skagdalen Heim Nursing Home Facility in Soldiers Grove, WI. While Nora will be missed at "her table", please know you all gave her wonderful moments during her final earthly days. Our family was blessed to be genuinely befriended and encircled by you. Thank you so much.
Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, 2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should[a] give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. 4 I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. 5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was. John 17:17
A celebration of Nora's life will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens Chapel, 7302 Mineral Point Road, Madison on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Tanya Cook officiating. A reception will be held after the service at Cress Funeral Home Community Room, 3610 Speedway Rd, Madison.
