Leo Hendricks

Leo Ambrose Hendricks, age 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 28, 2022. He was born on August 28, 1926 in De Pere, WI, the son of Herbert and Elizabeth (Gerrits) Hendricks.

He served in the Navy from 1944-1946. He married Kathleen (Goethe) on June 28, 1952 in Green Bay, WI. Leo worked at Green Bay Packaging, owned and operated Koller’s Resort in Spooner, WI and managed Country View Apartments in Waunakee for many years.

He was an active member of Waunakee VFW and American Legion. In 2011 he proudly traveled to Washington DC on the Badger Honor Flight with 2 of his brothers. Leo was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, and also enjoyed fishing, horseshoes, bowling and golf.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen; children Barbara (Jim) Kohlmetz of Eagle River, WI; Tim (Karen) Hendricks of Klamath Falls, OR and Paula (Scott) Meicher of Verona, WI; sister Betty Drewiske of De Pere, WI; grandchildren Erin Corcoran; Joshua (Samantha) Van Ess; Kylie Van Ess; Jeremy Hendricks; Kristin Hendricks and bonus grandchildren Beth and Tyler Kohlmetz; 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Leo is preceded in death by his brothers Carl, Mark and Frank and sisters Florence and Rita.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jennie Hounshell from UW Health Clinic in Windsor/DeForest for her many years serving as Leo’s doctor. Also, thanks to Agrace Hospice for their support while he was sick.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 12pm at Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 County Road Q in Waunakee. A visitation will begin at 11am until the time of service. A luncheon will follow at Rex’s Innkeeper.
