Leo Erich Emile Langheim lost his courageous fight against cancer on Thanksgiving evening- November 25, 2010.  Leo was filled with love and compassion. Leo was born, June 27, 1974, and became the youngest of three brothers.  Werner, Frederick and Leo filled the Langheim house with joy and impish energy.  Leo played hockey throughout his youth and endeavored on many a sailing adventure with his family. In 1992 Leo graduated from Middleton High School. He went on to receive a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1998.  During his time in college Leo studied abroad in London, England and he said the experience tremendously helped him to discover who he was.  Leo worked at the University's Division of Information Technology's (D.O.I.T) Showroom from 2000-2010. As a Senior Information Processing Consultant he was able to combine his love of Macintosh computers with his love of working with people. He was lucky enough to really enjoy his job, but even luckier to love the people he worked with everyday. In 2001 Leo married Christy Shilling of Prospect Heights, Illinois. The couple settled in Madison beginning their life together. In 2006 their son, Henry Gary Thomas Langheim was born.  Leo adored his son and was so proud that Henry was able to articulate his experience so clearly at 4 years of age. Leo loved playing Legos with his son, reading Science Fiction and Fantasy books, dancing in grocery store aisles, Apple computers, canoeing and camping, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and spending quality time with his family. Leo was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Jordan Langheim, born in Lake Mills, WI. Leo is survived by his partner and best friend, Christy Langheim; his son Henry; his older brothers Werner and Frederick Langheim; his father Dr. Werner Langheim and his wife Dr. Virginia Boyd; and his beloved nieces and nephews. Leo will be missed for his ability to express his love so openly and generously. Leo embraced life and lived it to his fullest. He packed more life into his 36 years than many can do in a 100.  He was a good, good man filled with love and light and he will be missed dearly. A visitation will be held from 3 until 7 pm on Friday, December 3, 2010 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison, WI.   A service celebrating  Leo's life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison.  A heart felt thanks to Leo and Christy's amazing support network. The enormity of love and care that was offered to the family enabled them to focus on time left with one another.  The family also extends gratitude for the entire team at Hospice Care, Inc. for tenderly caring for Leo as if he was a part of their family.  A special thanks to: Bob, Becky, Faye, Betty, Susan, Joann and Christina for their empathy, wisdom and companionship.
