Verona:  Leo Schwanz, age 97 passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 1, 2022 at Noel Manor in Verona.  He was born April 8, 1925 in Baraboo the son of Gus and Mary (Griegol) Schwanz.  Leo married Marcella “Marcie” Cook June 19, 1948 in Baraboo.

Leo was a proud Marine Corps Veteran of WWII.  He retired from CENEX Corporation where he had been employed for 32 and ½ years.  Leo enjoyed numerous hobbies, but spending time with family was most important.

Leo is survived by his children; Sue (Gary) Sies, Michael (Lynda) Schwanz, grandchildren; Christopher, Stacy, Tracy, Kim, and Sarah, great grandchildren; Montana, Austin, Noah, Caleb, Thaden, Julia, Tyler, Jordan and Lynley, great great grandchildren Harlee, Liam and Landon, and sisters Lois Munns and Bonnie Pierce.  He was preceded in death by his wife Marcella, one brother, and two sisters.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison, WI 53705.  Burial with military honors will follow at 3:00 pm at Sunset Memory Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Leo’s name to Badger Honor Flight, PO BOX 258066 Madison, WI 53725.
