Waunakee/ Middleton-Leona Adler age 92 died on Wed. Sept 28, 2011 at St Mary's Hospital in Madison. The former Leona Endres was born on Feb 1, 1919 to Joseph and Apollonia (Domini) Endres in the Township of Springfield. She attended St Martin's School in Martinsville. She was united in marriage to Gerald Adler on Oct 24, 1939 and he preceded her in death on Oct 4, 1989. They farmed in the Town of Middleton for four years and then moved to a farm in the Township of Springfield. After farming there for 24 years they moved to Middleton. Leona was an employee of the Middleton-Cross Plains School district in the food service for sixteen years. After moving to Waunakee she became a member of St John's Catholic Church as well as a member of the Middleton and Ashton Catholic Knights. Leona enjoyed playing cards with her card clubs, traveling, and occasional trips to casinos.
Survivors include three daughters; Mary Lou (Stan) Kuehn of Middleton, Rose(Dennis) Marcely of Dunbar,WI., Geralyn (Virgil) Waugh of Milton; two sons Joseph (Marilyn) Adler of Blaine, MN., Michael (Etta) Adler of Waunakee; Sixteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, one daughter Marjorie, a son-in-law Eugene Ledworowski and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Sat. Oct. 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m at St John's Catholic Church, 209 South St Waunakee. Msgr. James Gunn will officiate. Friends may call at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home on Fri. Sept 30, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Sat. from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in St Bernard's Cemetery in Middleton.
