Stoughton -- Leonard M. Osland age 88, passed away on Wednesday April 15, 2009 surrounded by his family. He was born in Stoughton on November 12, 1920, the son of Alfred and Sena (Hawkinson) Osland. Leonard graduated from Stoughton High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Combat Engineer and was stationed in France and Northern Italy. While serving our country Leonard was awarded the Purple Heart. On March 2, 1946 Leonard married Dolores Stannard. He worked for Gisholt Machine Company for 30 years and then for Ohio Medical Company for 12 years retiring in 1983. Leonard was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church, the Stoughton VFW, Purple Hearts, Wisconsin Campers Association and Good Sam Group. He enjoyed camping, reading, bird watching, bowling, dart ball. Leonard was very active in the Stoughton Senior Center. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dolores; two children, Harold ""Bud"" (Peggy) Osland of Newark, DE and Roxanne (Tom) Hanson of Cambridge; 4 grandchildren, Tracy (Scott) Zymanski, Isaac (Shay) Osland, Jason (Carmen) Hanson and Daniel (Jamie) Hanson; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Clarence ""Chink"" (Vi) Osland and sister, Pearl ""Pat"" Kittleson. Proceeded in death by his parents; grandson, Shaun Osland and granddaughter, Leanne Hanson. Funeral services will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington Street, Stoughton with Reverend Richard Halom officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:30 PM until the time of service at church on Saturday.
