Leonard Ellis Ross, age 92, son of Lloyd S. and Olive M. Ross (Bachman), was born on December 15, 1930 in Burlington, Iowa. He died March 15th of this year 2023 at Oakwood Village West. He is survived by his former wife, Marilyn J. Ross, and their children Jeffrey (Karen) Ross of Lolo, MT, Terry Ross of Madison, David (Lisa) Ross of Madison, grandchildren Malcolm (Lindsay) Lee, Scout Slava-Ross, great-grandchildren Enzo and Benson, and a special person in his life, Greta Lindberg. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Susan M. Ross. During the Korean War, Leonard served as a sergeant in the United States Army in Germany before returning home and earning a PhD from the University of Iowa in 1959. He came to Madison that year as a Professor of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin until retiring emeritus in 1992. Never one to tout his achievements, he authored many articles and book chapters, won teaching awards, and completed important research on the effects of alcohol when flying. A deep and critical reader, Leonard found great satisfaction in history, historical fiction, investing, mysteries, and politics—ever ready with a quip or comment on the most recent political debate. Proud of his family and a person of humble origins and tastes, his interests included a great love of airplanes and flying, and enjoying the Florida sun.
A private family burial was held.
