Leone K. Babler

Leone K. Babler, age 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at her home.   She was born the daughter of Fred and Hilda (Olson) Krueger on May 24, 1920 in Winchester, WI.    At the time of her mother's death in 1930, Leone went to live with her aunt Lynda in Madison, where she attended Dudgeon Junior High, and West High School, graduating in 1939.   After attending MATC, Leone went to work for American Family, then known as Farmers Mutual Insurance.   It was there that she met and married Arthur Babler.   They shared 66 cherished years, and together they had four children.    Her life was devoted to her family, and her church, Memorial United Church of Christ in Fitchburg.   She loved being a homemaker, and loved to decorate her home, and bake for her family.    Leone was very active in the church, serving as Treasurer for 15 years, and was also very active baking for church fundraisers, and activities.   She also spent a lifetime working and volunteering for the developmentally disabled cause, and was co-founder of MARC in the 1950's.  Her many other interests and hobbies included; knitting, crocheting, sewing, cake decorating, china painting, Rosemaling, and she also learned to play the organ at the age of 80.   Leone felt that she lived her life to the fullest, and enjoyed every bit of it.    Leone is survived by her loving husband; Arthur, her devoted daughters; Nancy (Terry) Bowman, and Devon Agaba, and cherished grandchildren; Ethan Arthur (Natalie) Zeman, and Katharine Leona Zeman.   She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Terry, and a daughter, Susan.    A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 17, 2009, at Memorial United Church of Christ, 5705 Lacy Rd., Fitchburg, WI   53711, with Rev. Phil Haslanger presiding.    Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
