Sun Prairie- Leslie "Les" Theodore Christian Vale, age 93, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Agrace. He was born on May 26, 1924 in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Ole and Jerona (Hermanson) Vale. He married Alma Haarklau on August 30, 1947 in De Forest, WI. Together they raised four children and were married for 66 years.
Les graduated from Sun Prairie High School and then served in the US Airforce from 1943 until 1946. After serving in the Airforce, Les worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years. He was also actively involved and a charter member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Les enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching sports on tv. One of his fondest memories was being part of the Sun Prairie High School football team with his brothers and winning the state championship in 1941.
Les is survived by his daughters; Jean (Charles Ballard) Boyle and Carol Walton; grandchildren Steven (Arielle) Lenihan, Brandy (Christofer) Schroeder and Tyler and Valerie Walton; great-grandchildren Micco Schroeder and Addison Lenihan; his brother Harold (Cress) Vale; his sister-in-law, Joan Kojo and he also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Leslie was preceded in death by his wife Alma; son, Russell Vale and daughter Alice Lenihan; and his brothers Olaf, Irvin, George and Russell Vale.
Funeral services will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 550 Lincoln Drive, Sun Prairie on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Timothy Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie from 4:00pm- until 7:00 pm and on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
