Lesley Gomes

Lesley Joan Gomes, age 54, of Sun Prairie, WI passed away on June 19, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital due to complications resulting from liver disease.

Lesley was born on April 19, 1967 in Norton, Massachusetts. She was the youngest daughter of Herman and Maxentia (Retzlaff) Gomes.

Lesley graduated with an associate degree from MATC in 1992 where she went on to work in labor and delivery at St. Mary’s Hospital, followed by a career as a surgical tech at Madison Surgery Center.

Being the homebody she was, she spent her days bingeing true crime while wrapped in her favorite angel blanket, satisfying her sweet tooth with Coca-Cola, while questioning why Adam hasn’t returned any of her 23719 phone calls. She took after her mom with her collection of knick-knacks and her obsession with sloths will never be matched.

Her loved ones will remember her for her sassy delivery with pure intentions, her famous home-cooked meals, and her ability to make others laugh (whether it was with her or at her).

Despite being the most amazing, selfless human being, a socially acceptable drug took her life. Our family asks that you realize substance abuse does not discriminate. It does not care if you’re a devoted mother, a kindhearted sister, or a superior friend. We all know and love someone whose life is vulnerable to addiction. Lesley spent her days taking care of others and in return, she forgot to take care of herself.

Lesley is survived by her #1, Roland “Rollie” Brockman of Sun Prairie, two children Helena and Adam Brockman (Trinity Crothers), sisters Coletta (Gary) Haarklau of Marshfield, Rena (Brian) Weber of Ashland, Laurinda (Steve) Mahuta of Sun Prairie, two fur babies Ruby and Arthur, three grand fur babies Avrum “Debbie”, Oliver “Cliff”, and Lex “Yoda”, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her nana, mom, dad, and big brother, Greg Gomes.

A memorial visitation will take place at Cress Funeral & Cremation Service in Sun Prairie on July 10, 2021 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. A celebration of life will follow at Wetmore Park (555 North Street, Sun Prairie, WI) beginning at 3:00 pm.

We would like to offer our sincere thanks to the amazing 4th-floor staff who treated Lesley with such kindness and warmth in her final days.
