Lester A. Druck, age 92, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2009, after a short illness. Â Lester was born on June 19, 1917, to William and Etta Druck in St. Paul Minnesota. Â He was an award winning tennis player in high school and college. Academically gifted, he graduated from high school a year early. Â From 1934 to 1940 he attended the University of Minnesota where he obtained both B.A. and J.D. degrees. Â After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 where he served as a Master Sergeant assigned to the headquarters unit of the 10th Army Artillery in the invasion of Okinawa. Â Â Upon discharge from the Army, Lester met the love of his life, Ann Fantle, from LaCrosse. Â They were married for 61 years. Together Lester and Ann owned and operated department stores in Boscobel, Tomah and Madison, as well as a bridal store in Madison. Â Lester also was a practicing attorney working for the Department of Agriculture in the Consumer Protection Division. Â For 15 years prior to his retirement he was an instructor of business law at the Madison Area Technical College. Â Together Lester and Ann had three children, William (Sue Ellen) Druck of Whitefish Bay, Thomas (Umi) Druck of Seattle, Wash. (formerly of Whitefish Bay), and Lori (Richard) Kalnicky of Madison. Â Lester is further survived by seven grandchildren, Joshua (Jaime) Druck, Benjamin (Lisa) Kalnicky, Amanda Druck (fiance Nate Sockrider), Emily (Seth) Price, Aaron Druck, Shayna Druck (fiance Tony Fahres), and Miriam (Mike) Weitkum; 3 great grandchildren, Stella and Dylan Druck, and Tyler Kalnicky. Â Lester is also survived by brother-in-law John (Pearl) Fantle and brother-in-law Joel (Lorna) Fantle and many nieces and nephews. Â He was preceded in death by his wife Ann (Fantle) on May 5th 2009, his brother, Gerald, and his sister, Lois Hoffman. Â Lester will be forever remembered for his dry sense of humor, twinkling eyes, and his ability to relate to people of all ages and from all walks of life. Â Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. Â The family will receive guests beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Â Internment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
