Lila Mae (Rule) Meyer, age 85, Madison, died on Tuesday, December 31, 2019. She was born in Linden, Wisconsin, the daughter of Elwin and Matilda (Prohaska) Rule on February 16, 1934. She attended Linden grade school and graduated from Mineral Point High School, Class of 1951.
She worked for Wisconsin Power and Light (now Alliant Energy) in Madison for 15 years where she also met her future husband, Ralph Meyer. They were married on June 25, 1966, and she began what was to be her cherished life's work of being a loving and devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.
Lila volunteered at the Madison Public Schools when her children were young and later at the Red Cross. For several years, she worked for the University of Wisconsin Bursar's office during fall and spring registration to assist the students with student loan disbursement and tuition payments. She had a talent for knitting, and she especially enjoyed making hats for the newborns at local hospitals. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and recognized the beauty in all of God's creations. Lila was a woman of faith and believed deeply in the power of prayer.
In more recent years, she and her husband volunteered delivering food from local grocery stores to food pantries such as Middleton Outreach Ministry, Middleton Senior Center, and other organizations. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish and Madison Catholic Woman's Club.
Lila is survived by her husband Ralph, daughter Joette, and son Paul (Laurie McAllister). She was extremely proud to be grandma to Ian and Ryan, Paul's sons. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
