Lila A. Zickert

July 16, 1928 — March 21, 2011

Deerfield- Lila A. Zickert, age 82, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center surrounded by her family.  She was born in Lake Mills on July 16, 1928, the daughter of William and Anna (Jortzig) Behm.  Lila graduated from Lake Mills High School.  On December 29, 1950 she married Raymond Zickert.  Together they successfully owned and operated Zickert's General Store for 10 years.  After selling the store they purchased a farm and Lila returned to work for Schweiger Industries as a professional seamstress and retired after 25 years.  Along with her neighbor, Theresa Key, Lila continued her upholstery work for 10 more years.  Lila enjoyed tending to her gardens and spending time with her family.  She is survived by her five children, Marsha (Ed) Wayne of Deerfield, Steven (Dawn) Zickert of Deerfield, Tom (Shelli) Zickert of Marshall, David Zickert of Marshall and Julie (Rob) Stenjem of Deerfield; 15 grandchildren, Matthew (Lisa) Zickert, Amber (Colin) Berge, Jenna and Lindsey Zickert, Brandon Walsh, Chad, Colin and Misty Wayne, Karina and Michael Zickert, Kayla and Ryan Stenjem, Travis and Tyler Zickert and Dawn Zickert; four great granddaughters, Alyssa Wayne, Ava and Chloe Berge and Brooklynn Stenjem; sister, Phylis Motl; cousin, Dorothy Froemming; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; sister, Margaret Broom; and brothers, Elmer and Harvey Behm.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Deerfield Lutheran Church, with Rev. Larry Sexe officiating.  Burial will follow in Deerfield Lutheran Cemetery.  Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon immediately following the burial, in the church fellowship hall.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the church on Friday, March 25, 2011 and from 10:00 AM until the time of services on Saturday.  A special thank you to Lila's health care aides: Cassie Galvan, Michelle Bearder and Jean Donowho; HospiceCare Inc; and Pastor Sexe.
