Linda Bohman

May 9, 1956 — April 12, 2015

Linda Rae (Nelson) Bohman

At age 58, the graceful Linda Rae Bohman, of Madison, comfortably passed away April 11, 2015 at home with her loving extended family and supported by Agrace Hospice. She died of Frontotemporal Dementia (Onset Dec. 2013) and ALS (Oct. 2014). She was born in La Crosse, WI on May 9, 1956, and raised in Galesville (Trempealeau County), WI to parents Frederick Willis Nelson and Cathryn Rae (Nelson) Nelson. She graduated from Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in Business Management.

Dear Linda will be deeply missed and never forgotten by her family and many, many friends. She was the devoted wife of care partner Jonathan J. Bohman and the loving mother of two beautiful children who have become kind, compassionate adults, Tyler Jon (Tahreem) and Aubrie Jeanne. They became very dedicated, loving, daily attendants and caregivers to their Mom. Linda is survived by her mother Cathryn; brothers Gary (Judy), Kurt (Laurie), Roger (Sandy); and her nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father Frederick, Uncle Duane Nelson, Aunt Mildred Ord, four grandparents and three cousins.

As a Human Resources Director for more than 30 years, Linda had many professional accomplishments as a trusted HR diplomat. After moving to Madison she worked at Wisconsin Physicians Service and later joined the Human Resources staff at Madison General Hospital (Meriter), where she met Jon. Linda was the first HR Director at the accounting firm of Virchow Krause and Co. in 1984 and later awarded the first non-accountant partnership. In 2005, she became HR Director at the Wisconsin Medical Society. Many challenges were vanquished and good stories resulted from being a strong, independent, professional woman in these environments, a few of which were told in the book, What She Said, published by A Fund for Women in 2013. She was a hero to coworkers including many women she mentored. She was a member of the national HR and local TEMPO professional organizations.

Beautiful Linda was graceful in nature, generous to all and fun-loving. She was wise with advice and obviously intelligent. Linda was a lover of family camping, gardening, birds, cycling and was an academic sage and sports parent to her children. She accomplished her dream of creating, managing and nurturing a diverse book club where many life-long friendships evolved and is thriving after 10 years. Her dog and furry friend, "Bix", provided daily affection and cozy cuddles throughout this past year.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday April 18, 2015 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5701 Raymond Rd. Madison, WI. 53711. This includes a visitation from 10 AM - 12 PM followed by a service at noon and luncheon at 1PM where personal reflections may be expressed.
