Cohen, Linda Susan (Landphier) was blessed to depart this world with the words, “I’ve lived a good life”, after her surrender to heart failure. Those lucky enough to know Linda throughout her 73 years will be forever enriched by the goodness she passed along.
Born in Richland Center, Wis. on June 27, 1950 to Gordon and Emily (Surrem) Landphier, Linda raised throughout central Wisconsin with her father’s service in the WI DNR Forestry, in Spring Green, Spooner and Black River Falls, along with her younger siblings Diane and Scott. She graduated from Black River Falls High School and attended University of Wisconsin-Superior on an art scholarship. She departed school early to become a wife and a mother to her two daughters Sarah and Amy, whom she loved wholeheartedly.
Her artistic gift led to a career as a dental technician, hand crafting crowns and bridges, and to her second love, Scott Gilmore, working side by side until his untimely passing in 1994. Despite tragedy, love always had a way of following Linda, leading to a new life and home with Jim Jahnke, her partner in curling, traveling, cooking, politics and love for almost 30 years.
Linda enjoyed art, knitting, music, gardening, curling, thrifting, antiquing and visiting with family and friends. She was blessed to learn she had an older sister, Cathy, whom she met in 2010 and built a loving sisterly bond.
Linda is survived by her partner, Jim Jahnke of Waunakee; daughters Sarah Cohen of Chicago and Amy Cohen Caron of Minneapolis; sister Cathy Anderson of Waunakee; grandson Graham Caron; and many family, friends, and her beloved dog, Belle. Linda is preceded in death by her parents; sister Diane Landphier; brother Scott Landphier; fiancé Scott Gilmore; and beloved dogs Maggie and Ellie.
A celebration of life service was held on Saturday, May 4 at 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Waunakee; Rev Karen Locken will preside, with a social gathering and luncheon immediately following at the church.
