Linda "Wethal" Everson

November 7, 1940 — November 3, 2024

Evansville

Linda A. (Wethal) Everson, age 83, of Evansville, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Stoughton Hospital. She was born November 7, 1940, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Melfred and Anna (Johnson) Wethal.

Linda was one of the greatest supporters of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed being involved in their schooling, by attending their sports events, music events, and plays. She was an avid fan of the Evansville Blue Devils, Wisconsin Badgers, and Green Bay Packers. She loved to support and donate to the Evansville Blue Devils Booster Club, Evansville Schools for Sports, Music and the Arts.

Linda loved traveling the United States through the many beautiful states and roads and would often say, “I’ve read about this place” and would proceed to give a history lesson on the location and talk about any other interesting facts. She traveled to Norway and met the family of her mother who immigrated to the United States at four years old. As a snowbird for over 10 years, she enjoyed time in Florida soaking up the sun on Ft. Myer’s Beach. When younger she enjoyed riding on the back of a Harley with the 74 Highway Kings. She enjoyed the many luncheons with her childhood friends of over 80 years where lots of laughs and stories were told.

Linda was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evansville. She enjoyed volunteering at her church and Evansville Manor. She was immensely proud of her Norwegian Heritage and was a member of the Vesterheim Norwegian Museum, Norwegian American Genealogical Center, Naeseth Library and Sons of Norway. Other memberships included the Wisconsin Historical Society, Friends of the Evansville Library, and the Koshkonong Prairie Historical Society.

Linda is survived by her husband of 66 years, Sherman “Joe” Everson Jr.; children, Diana (Randy) Crans of Edgerton, Lori (Karl) Langmeier of Lodi, Jeff (Cindy) Everson of Janesville, and Dan (Gris) Everson of Evansville; brothers, Melfred “Lee” Wethal and Richard “Dick” (Dawn) Wethal; and 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Melfred and Anna (Johnson) Wethal; sisters, Patricia Brugger and Barbara “Bobbi” Ehle; father-in-law and mother in-law, Sherman Sr. and Irene (Rowin) Everson; and sister-in-law, Rose Everson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Eager Free Public Library or St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evansville, WI.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
