Linda M. Porter passed away on Dec. 28, 2021 after a brief illness. Linda was born on August 11, 1940, daughter of Marjorie and Lefens Porter. Linda’s grandmother, Gran, raised Linda after she lost her parents at a young age. Linda always credited Gran for the wonderful foundation she instilled in her.
Linda’s life was one of leadership. She taught 4 th and 5 th graders, counseled high school students in Mundelein, IL, was Dean of Students at Mundelein and for the majority of her life, owned and directed Camp Osoha in northern Wisconsin.
Linda’s 35 years of directing Camp left her with thousands of memories to “pull out of her pocket” on a daily basis. Campers and counselors around the world are flooded with their own memories of Linda and how she made a positive impact on their lives. She just had a way with people!
Linda is survived by her brother Walter Porter (McKenzie), nephews Nick Porter (Kamie), Philip Porter, niece Alex Keeling (Jason) and families, cousin Meta Melby and many many dear friends.
Per Linda’s request, there will be no service. If you would like to honor Linda’s memory with a donation, her lifelong interests were education, children, camping and animals.
Linda’s life was full of LIFE and her presence will be forever felt by all those who loved her dearly.
