Lisa A. Kanoff, a beloved member of the Sun Prairie community, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2023, at her home in Sun Prairie. Born on April 8, 1966, in New Haven, Connecticut, Lisa lived a remarkable life filled with joy, love, and dedication to her family and community.
Lisa's unwavering commitment to providing a nurturing environment led her to run an in-home daycare for 25 years. Her passion for caring for children shone through as she created a safe and loving space for them to learn and grow. Following her retirement from daycare work, Lisa turned her attention to Sacred Hearts School, where she continued to make a positive impact on young lives.
Having completed her education at East Haven High School and Stone Business Academy in Connecticut, Lisa possessed the knowledge and skills that served her well throughout her career and personal life.
In addition to her professional achievements, Lisa left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She was the glue that held everyone together - a beacon of strength and support during both joyful occasions and challenging times. Lisa's boundless love extended beyond her immediate family; she welcomed others with open arms and always made room for one more at the table.
As a devoted mother to her children Tom, Stephanie, and Nick, and proud grandmother to Maddie and Tommy, Lisa found immense happiness in being a hockey mom and dance grandma. She cherished every opportunity to support them in their pursuits and celebrate their achievements. Her unconditional love provided them with a solid foundation to thrive.
When she wasn't busy with family obligations or dedicating herself to work, Lisa pursued various hobbies and interests that brought her immense joy. She had an adventurous spirit and loved traveling to destinations such as the East and West coasts of the United States, Hawaii, Florida, Mexico, as well as embarking on family vacations and cruises to the Bahamas. Lisa also cherished her visits back to Connecticut to spend quality time with her loved ones. Her passion for documenting life's precious moments led her to scrapbooking, a creative outlet that allowed her to preserve memories for generations to come. Lisa was also an excellent cook and found happiness in preparing meals for others. In her downtime, she enjoyed watching game shows like Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right, as well as the popular dance competition show, Dancing with the Stars. Lisa's spirit of adventure extended to trying her luck at the casino and playing bingo. She sought out places that offered sunshine and waves, always craving new experiences.
Throughout her life, Lisa's proudest accomplishments were rooted in her family. Her loving marriage of 37 years to Thomas Kanoff was a testament to their enduring bond and unwavering commitment to one another. Together, they built a foundation of love and support that created a strong sense of stability for their family.
Lisa's memory will forever be cherished by her husband Thomas; son Tom (Kirstin) Kanoff; daughter Stephanie (Connor) Stinson; son Nick (Brianna) Kanoff; grandchildren Maddie and Tommy; brother Christopher Ames Sr.; nieces, nephews, godchildren; as well as many relatives and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother Lorraine (Henry) Kennedy, father Merle Jr. (Kathy) Ames, grandparents Frank (Carmela) Proto, Merle Ames Sr., and Helen Conklin.
To honor Lisa's life and celebrate the joy she brought into the world, visitation services will be held on November 17, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cress Funeral & Cremation Service - Sun Prairie located at 1310 Emerald Terrace in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Additional visitation will take place on November 18th, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church, 221 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00 AM. Lisa will be laid to rest in a burial service at Sacred Hearts Catholic Cemetery in Sun Prairie immediately following the Mass.
Lisa A. Kanoff touched the lives of countless individuals through her genuine love, kindness, and unwavering support. Her legacy of compassion and dedication to family and community will carry on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
