Lloyd J. Smith

November 16, 1740 — April 10, 2010

  McFarland / Madison   Lloyd J. Smith, age 69 of McFarland formerly of Madison, died on Sat. April 10, 2010 at HospiceCare Inc in Fitchburg after a hard fought battle with Barrett's Esophagus Disease and Liver failure. Lloyd was born November 16, 1940 to Sophus and Hildegarde Smith of Delavan. He worked as a bar manager for over 28 yrs., first at Dalton's 77 and then at Josie's Spaghetti House both in Madison. He also worked 6 yrs., for the City of Madison as a crossing guard for several west side schools. He was currently working at the Alliant Energy Center and had been there for 18yrs. Lloyd always enjoyed working with people which was easy to tell by the constant smile on his face. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing the drums and was the member of several country music bands. He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, golfing, watching old westerns, watching his grandson play hockey and baseball, he always enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his grand dog Ike. He is survived by his loving wife of 29yrs. Doris J. Smith, four children; Terri (Ken) Kaegi of Verona, Marty Smith of Madison, Cameron (Erin) Smith of Ft. Wright KY, Tyler (Katie) Smith of Madison, four grand children and one great granddaughter. Lloyd is also survived by his sister Darlene Langholff of Delavan, two brothers in law and two sisters in law, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers in law.   A memorial service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at Forest Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please give memorials to HospiceCare Inc, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI   53711.   We would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Dean Clinic, St. Mary's Hospital and especially HospiceCare Inc. of Fitchburg.
