Lois J. Amble passed away April 3, 2025. She was born October 15, 1927 on the family farm in Scandinavia, Wisconsin to Bjarne and Selma (Mork) Erickson. She attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison and met Oscar J. Amble. They married on May 28, 1949 and were together for 43 years until his death in 1992. They lived in Madison and raised five children. In 2009, she moved to Milton and lived with her daughter and son-in-law for 11 years. In 2020, she moved to Noel Manor in Verona. She was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Madison since 1949, serving as president of the Ladies Aid and Ruth Circle. She volunteered at the Fitchburg Senior Center for many years. She was an avid reader, reading her Bible daily, and played scrabble at The Gathering Place in Milton. Her life was centered on her family and her faith, which she has passed on to four generations.
She is survived by four of her children (all in Wisconsin): Michael (Marlene Schrank) Amble of Madison; Steven Amble of LaCrosse; Cindy Lukas of Milton; and Ann (Dan) Dugan of Madison. Her daughter-in-law, Jodie Amble (River Falls). Nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. She is survived by her best friend and sister Shirley Purchatzke of Eau Claire.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Scott Amble, her sister Eunice Peterson, her brother Russell Erickson, and her son-in-law Hank Lukas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 11 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 734 Holy Cross Way, Madison with Pastor Mark Bartels presiding with the visitation beginning at 10 am. Internment will be at 2 pm at Forest Hill Cemetery, 1 Speedway Rd., please meet at the main gate.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
