Madison/Verona - Lois was born in Reading, KS to Helen Volz and James Steen Jr. James married twice more to Ettie Volz and Mildred Cole. She finished high school in Osage City and took a few secretarial prep courses at Emporia College, working briefly as a secretary. She met the love of her life at the Osage county fair. She and Floyd Jones were married 66 years, until his passing 10-16-15.

Lois dedicated her life to raising their two children, Janis and Paul. She and Floyd spent the early years of retirement traveling the United States in an RV with treasured family members, until settling in McAllen, Texas as “snowbirds”, returning to WI later in life.

Lois enjoyed playing piano and making miniature flower arrangements, for which she earned multiple awards. She was a member of the Women’s Church Auxiliary at Bethany. Lois was a champion at family game nights. More recently, at Noel, she enjoyed Bingo and her weekly date with the hairdresser! She was known as kind, and a good listener to others, throughout her life.

Lois is survived by her daughter Janis/Michael Metcalf of Madison and her son Paul/Diane Jones of Clarksville, MI. She is further survived by 5 talented grandchildren, Zachary/Heather Jones NH, Rebecca/Daryl Callan PA, Vicki Jones/Dr. Evan Birnholz PA, Charli Metcalf/Forest Weber WI, and Dr. AJ Metcalf/Katie Klonis(friend) NM. Lois has six great grandchildren, Alexia, Kylie, Loralei, Elliana, Aurora, and Elliot. Lois has 22 nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her beloved sister Mabel Steen Shown (2015) and husband Floyd Jones (2015), an infant grandson Andrew Metcalf (1986), and 7 nephews.

A small funeral service will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church, 3910 Mineral Point Road, Madison, WI on Tuesday March 18th. Visitation at noon and service at 1 pm. The service will be live streamed. A private cemetery burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
