Lois M. Kammer

Our family lost a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend on November 6th, 2023.  Lois Marie (Lauridsen) Kammer was born on June 7, 1928, in Madison, the daughter of loving parents, Gudmund and Matilda (Mueller) Lauridsen.  She attended East High School and the University of Wisconsin.  She met Jack Kammer in 1944 when she was a senior in high school, and they were married after World War II on July 31, 1949.

Lois loved the Lord Jesus and was a member of Midvale Community Lutheran Church, the Attic Angel Association and Chapter V of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.  She was active in many different areas of volunteer work, and she especially loved tutoring in the elementary schools for R.S.V.P and the “Schools of Hope”.  Sharing her love of reading and of books with the children was rewarding and fun and each child was special to her.

Cheering on the Brewers, Badgers and Packers with her husband, Jack, was also an important activity in their life together.  They were both ardent fans of the University of Wisconsin and all UW sports.

Her greatest joy was always her family and her role as wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.  Over the years her friends in her book club, her P.E.O. chapter V and her church groups became like her family as well.

In death she joins her beloved husband, Jack (her guy!), her mother and her father and her brother, James Lauridsen.  Left to remember her love are her children, Barbara Jo Kammer, Dr. Christian Kammer, Julie Pearson and her husband Julian Iliev, Steven Kammer; six grandchildren, Holly and Annie Pearson, Erica (Kammer) Mills, Maria (Kammer) Loving, Adam and Eli Kammer; five great grandchildren, Jason, Damian, Grayson and Talia Mills, Jalen Loving Jr., sister-in-law Lou Kammer and brothers-in-law Tom and Jim Kammer, nephews John and Mark Kammer, Stan and Steve Lauridsen, and Gary Lacke; nieces, Diane Lacke and Lynn Yudice.  Many beloved cousins here and also in Denmark and a special loyal friend, Sheila Murray, complete the family circle.  Together Lois and Jack built a life around their family and raised their children with joy, love and LAUGHTER for over sixty years.

Her children can’t thank her enough for all of the blessed compassionate love that they have experienced in every aspect of her parenting.  She never grew tired of serving and caring for her family.  That is how she loved us and she always demonstrated kindness.  We couldn’t have had a better teacher.  Special memories include the delicious smell of home cooked dinners followed by eating around the table with the family.  Love, laughter, and those out-of-this-world “truck stop” meals.  Those were simply the best of times.

Well done, Mom, you truly were the good and faithful servant.  Our prayer is that we may pass on to others all of the love, kindness and generosity that you have shown us.  We love you!  “No time on earth is long enough to share with those we love or to prepare our hearts for good-bye.”  Rest now, dear mother, in the arms of your Savior and may you be surrounded by all those you have loved who have gone before you.  Your spirit will always be with us.
