Lois Lange

Madison - Lois Joy Lange, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 23rd, 2016 from natural causes. She was born January 25th, 1947 to the late Frank A. and Bessie Machek. Lois graduated from Lyons Township High School, LaGrange Illinois, in 1965. After graduation she enrolled in the University of Iowa, graduating in 1969 with a B.A. degree in Education. While she was in college, she met Richard Lange. They fell in love and were married on October 18th, 1969. Their son Geoff, was born following year, and their daughter Debbie was born three years later. Lois was a stay-at-home mom until both children were in school. She then started her 20 year career as a special education teaching assistant at Van Hise Elementary School. She thoroughly enjoyed working with children and watching them grow. In 2000, she retired due to complications of M.S. During retirement, she volunteered several more years helping children at school. She relished her time with her best friends Nancy and Kathy. She enjoyed spending time in her sun room reading novels and watching birds. Lois loved her dog Paddy and her cat Reggie, who brought her many years of joy. Lois also looked forward to her weekly aquatic therapy classes, and over the last 15 years became a master joke teller.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Richard; her son Geoff (Tina) Lange; daughter, Debbie (Joe) Kochberg; four grandchildren: Charlie, Nathaniel, Jacob, and Peyton; two brothers Frank (Anne) J. Machek and Richard L. Machek.

Family and friends may visit at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5701 Raymond Rd, Madison on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. A reception will follow the funeral service at church. Lois will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Special thanks to Deb who assisted Lois in her therapy classes. Richard would like to also thank all of Lois's care givers and friends who supported her over her 45 year journey with M.S.
