Lois B. Martinson passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge in Madison. She was born on July 27, 1920 in Madison, the daughter of Herman and Elsie (Steinhauer) Platt. She was a graduate of Madison East High and attended UW-Madison. She and her husband, Orton Martinson, had two children, Sandra and Barry. She worked as an Auditor at Sears Roebuck and was a Crossing Guard for the City of Madison when children came into her life. She loved to travel, read, do arts and crafts, and spend time with her family and friends. Lois treasured the family road trips that took them to nearly every State, especially to New Jersey where her brother and family lived.

Lois is survived by her daughter Sandra (Dennis) Gustin of Madison and son Barry Martinson of Arlington Heights, IL, sister-in-law Marie Platt of Brick, New Jersey, "daughters of the heart" Pam Sirmans, Sarah Weddle and Aldeen Ffjelstad and many dear nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters LaVerne Clark and Caryle Nelson, both of Madison, her brother Harold Platt of Brick, New Jersey and dear god-daughter, Lynn Dollars of West Chicago, IL.

The family would like to thank Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge's dedicated staff, Dr. Siebers and his staff and Agrace HospiceCare Inc. for their kindness, patience and good care.

Services will be held Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 11:00 am at Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge -Tree of Life Chapel, 5565 Tancho Drive, Madison. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services.
