Lois Helen Reuter, age 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2009 at Sterling House in Middleton.  Lois was born the only child of Thomas ""ODell"" and Hattie (Arneson) ODell on May 8, 1926 in Winona, MN.  She spent most of her childhood in Cochrane WI.  When Lois was 19 years old she tragically lost both of her parents within a short 5 month time.  She was helped immeasurably by aunt and uncle  Florence and Milt Rath of Fountain City, WI.  Lois remained close to them, and their son Jack (Bonnie), Jack's children; Jay, Laura (Robert) and their children Jocelyn and Christopher.  She was united in marriage to Ralph Reuter on June 28, 1927, and they shared over 60 wonderful years together.  Ralph passed away in October of 2007.     Lois graduated from the University of Lacrosse in 1947, and began her teaching career that included schools in Beaver Dam, Appleton and Madison.  She enjoyed gardening, golf and she had a flair for design.  Lois was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.  Lois was a cheerleader at Cochrane High School, and in her final days she enjoyed watching the girls basketball tournaments on television.  She is survived by her sons; Mike of Monona, and Tom of Ashland.  Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her aunt and uncle Florence and Milt, and her husband Ralph.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at BETHANY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 3910 Mineral Point Rd., Madison, with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the UW Lacrosse Foundation, 615 East Avenue North, Lacrosse, WI  54601.  The family would like to thank the staff of Sterling House for their loving and compassionate care.
